TENNderCare Program
TENNderCare is a free program of check-ups and health care services for children and teens from birth to age 21 who are TennCare eligible.
A check-up includes: a health history, complete physical exam, lab tests (as appropriate), vision/hearing screening, developmental and behavioral screenings (as appropriate) and advice on how to keep your child healthy. In addition, dental and behavioral health services are available.
Parents should call their child's primary care provider and schedule this well-child screening once a year. If the child is under age two, these check-ups should be scheduled more often, according to established guidelines. These screenings can also be done at the local Health Department.
For more information, call the Blount County Health Department at 983-4582. To speak directly with a TENNderCare representative, ask for extension 166.
