8th Grade News
We have so much planned for the 8th graders as they spend their last few weeks in middle school. Please take note of the following events and dates. You can also keep up with these events through the 8th grade website at http://teacherweb.com/TN/ams/amburgey/
Dr. Sonya Marsh will come to visit Monday, April 28 - Thursday, May 1, in the English classes. She will talk about high school registration information as well as the differences in high school and middle school. Then on Thursday, May 1, at 6:30 in the AHS auditorium, she will hold a parent meeting to discuss some of these same items. With new graduation requirements set by the state for this upcoming freshman class, we encourage all parents to attend.
May 2nd Progress Reports go home
May 7th-9th Daily field trips planned for the remaining students not going on the Chicago trip (please return permission slip by May 5th)
May 14th Move-Up Day (8th graders do not come to school this day)
May 15th Career Day- local business men and women will be coming to share with students about various careers
May 19th Freshmen Panel 9am
May 20th Talent Show 9am and Yearbook Signing Day
May 22nd-23rd Semester Exams (students will be dismissed at noon on the 23rd after their last exam)
May 27th 8th Grade Awards Ceremony at 9am with the Dollywood trip following. This is a special occasion and dress is “church attire.” We ask that students do not wear shorts or any denim.
Semester Exams are May 22-23.
