5th Grade News
The fifth grade year is quickly coming to an end. We have worked hard this year and are still busy learning and preparing for the sixth grade. Now that TCAPS are over, we will also be participating in many learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. We will be taking several field trips to enrich our curriculum by providing first-hand experiences in various disciplines, as well as celebrating and recognizing students for their efforts.
Below is a list of upcoming field trips:
May 1, 2008 $6.00
Smoky Mountain Skate Center- (for the 58 students who made their AR goal for the 3rd 9weeks!)
Send a sack lunch.
May 9, 2008 $10.00
Knoxville Zoo- send a sack lunch (for all 5th graders)
May 12, 2008 $4.00
Smoky Mountain Heritage Center-send a sack lunch (for all 5th graders)
May 16, 2008 $0 (no cost)
Blount County Justice Center-send a sack lunch (for all 5th graders)

5th Grade News:
The fifth grade has been working hard to get ready for TCAP tests. All material from this entire school year is being reviewed. Testing will be April 15-21st. Please review any notes/lessons with your child to help him/her prepare for the test. A 5-10 minute review over notes each day will really help refresh your child's memory before the test. Let's work together to make this your child's best TCAP yet!
5th Grade Honors/Awards:
We are very proud of the following students for their outstanding efforts and achievements:
*Tucker Riddick won the AMS National Geographic Geography Bee and will go on to compete in the state
*Kylie Marquis won the AMS Spelling Bee and the Blount County Spelling Bee and went to the Regional Spelling Bee over spring break
*Daniel Brimer won the Chilhowee Club District II Poetry contest
*Arbor Day Poster Contest winners are Kinsey Midkiff, Ana Jackson, Tanner Murray, Alex Simmons, and Tori Simmons
